Tuchel Criticizes Home Crowd Support Despite Comfortable Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel shared his sadness that the England team did not enjoy more encouragement from the Wembley fans during their commanding triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was pleased to see his squad continue their winning momentum, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter deciding the game. Yet, he was unhappy with the atmosphere at the national stadium.

“We had one and a half training days to get ready against a drilled team and we did very well,” Tuchel stated. “We could have been 5-0 up at the break. We couldn’t score the additional ones. There was little noise. There was no any energy back from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“What more can you provide in 20 minutes? We prevented them get away. If you hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s regrettable because the squad warranted better encouragement today.”

“I support my words. We cannot do more than leading three goals up in a rivalry match. I hoped for a bit more support in phases where it gets difficult.”

“In the second half, to get behind us, there was excessive backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to regain energy, but it is what it is and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Away from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, the manager also created controversy by omitting Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden from his team selection. However the decision was validated by Morgan Rogers impressing again in the attacking midfield role and getting his first international goal.

“He plays his game,” the head coach noted. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his spot.”

Wales Manager Seeks Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy hopes that his team, who host a strong Belgian side in a key qualifying match on Monday, take lessons from their poor first-half display.

“This is why I wanted this game,” the manager commented. “I wanted to assess our current level. What are our ambitions? What is our identity? Today gives me inspiration.”

Injury Concern for Striker

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after colliding with a goalpost and is a concern when England play their next opponents in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
