Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Crack in Windshield
A jet transporting Pete Hegseth was required to make an emergency landing in the Britain on Wednesday after a crack was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official statement which confirmed that all passengers were secure.
"The jet touched down following standard protocol and all passengers, such as Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a online announcement.
The secretary was coming back from a short visit to the Belgian capital at the time.
This occurrence isn't the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a high-ranking official has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was compelled to return to Washington after encountering a mechanical fault.
