NFL Recap: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Affair
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Game
Despite recording nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 after conceding a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets could only produce just 82 total net yards during the entire game.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets maintained possession with a chance to score a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
Fields struggled all game, connecting on just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten passing yards, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn commented after the game.
