Exploring an Bizarre Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of entertaining indie games. However, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure includes a hero that is truly a turd striving to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
The gameplay is straightforward: just use a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty levels, battle tough enemies and unlock a shop to acquire customizations for your poop character.
Plan your jumps precisely, as a wrong move requires restarting the level. Leap using bubbles to propel the poop upward, navigate disappearing platforms, and touch buttons to reveal new areas. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on tougher levels in which the action ramps up.
Visually, the experience shows off eye-catching environments and a killer soundtrack. Its minimalist art featuring moving basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of previous releases where you are a coiled turd, video games have long featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content is present heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive awards, including taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready currently on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on PC this November.
