Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards took place on Thursday, and through an impressive display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's success, its talented cast also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive itself was honored as Best Development Team. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional standout winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only four awards—Critics Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by critics.
